Read what has been written here, which is just SOME of the similarities. The statement that Red Dwarf and Lost are nothing alike can only be spoken if you ignore all this!

Lost and Lost are nothing alike by the same logic too!

To call Lost a poor man's Red Dwarf is hugely insulting to the writers of Lost.

Being a (former) huge Red Dwarf fan, having watched it since it first aired I got more and more disappointed with each series. The final nail in the coffin was the unforgivable jumping of the shark in each episode of the three-part special.

Lost gets better every season. In this respect it is the complete opposite to Red Dwarf.

I like your comparisons (but don't agree they were in any way intentional).

Perhaps calling it a Rich man's red dwarf would be better then... Cool

Check out SpOOky's Ho Ho Ho thread, for some serious depth on the comparisons...

I do think Lost has been influenced by Red Dwarf and the writers have included many connections between the two
Many of which I have noted in my Ho Ho Ho thread that preceeded this thread (check the posted dates) Wink

In the first instance, to me, it would seem ridiculous that the writers having taken references from real actual literature would do the same from Red Dwarf.

*reads Ho Ho Ho thread*

It sounds insane, the links could be coincidental but I wonder if it could be true...

Could be coincidence, But there seem allot of them do there not Wink
Coincidences happen, But when there are so many you have to start to wonder.
Im happy to let people decide for themselves, But once you take the time to check them out, It dose start to look like more than Coincidence.

Btw the list of Connections is still not complete, I just have not had time to add them all yet. Wink
